“Well behaved women rarely make history.” – Laurel Thatcher Ulrich You have that friend that always seems to be able to coax you out of your PJs on a random Tuesday and into some unplanned, epic fun. You have that gal pal that knows that sometimes a bottle of vino a long chat in sweats is just the cure for what ails ya. You have your girls, the ones who can make dinner into a laugh fest and a night out into something fabulous. Having a solid travel buddy or 2 is important, sure, but more important perhaps is having your home team of… Read more

Delicious Dumplings: Near and Far

Chinese dumplings have been a go-to cheap/delicious meal for me since I was a kid. My parents often took me to a restaurant in Brooklyn called China New Star, which has some of the biggest, most delicious fried pork dumplings I have ever tasted. Give and Take

OK Ladies, it is the perfect storm: Valentines Day meets a Friday. I am going to leave my rants on consumerism and the destruction of a good idea by commercialization for another day. Hit this party and hang with those people… Read more

Local Brews

I wander into my NYC local and sidle up to the bar. I check the chalkboard for the specials as I do but know Jason will likely know better what I will like. I look down the line and see a few familiar faces and then one that surprises me. It is weird to see Dave on my own side of the bar. Usually my fave Irish bartender is adeptly pouring and telling tales up the street at a sister bar. With a smile, I walk over, squeeze into the space next to him and say hello. I am in… Read more
